Last year, Agriculture Machinery Centre's research team installed one set of improved cardamom dryer each in Dagana, Tsirang and Sarpang dzongkhags respectively. This time of the year, the evaluation tests for the improved dryer is on going at Dagana Dzongkhag. It is using Bhukari , where the drying is done with the help of heat instead of fire as in traditonal practices. Also, the colour is maintained red which unfortunatley is not possible in traditional due to smoke buildup. The heating temperature for quality which is 55-65 degree is also ensured with this technology.

Since cardamom drying requirement is instant and in large quantity, this technology could be an answer. For more information, please contact AMDC under AMC.
